چکیده

Introduction: Internal carotid artery-posterior communicating artery aneurysms (ICPCANs) are occasionally located under the anterior petroclinoid fold (tentorium). The tentorium must be resected to achieve safe and secure clipping of ICPCAN. surgeon performing procedure careful not damage oculomotor nerve, which is usually behind aneurysm, ensure that patient's function preserved. In this article, we presented a surgical technique for resection nerve mobilization during an ICPCAN intervention. Additionally, clinical features patients who underwent have been described.

Unruptured Internal Carotid-Posterior Communicating Artery Aneurysm Splitting the Oculomotor Nerve: A Case Report and Literature Review

Objective To report a rare case of unruptured internal carotid-posterior communicating artery (IC-PC) aneurysm splitting the oculomotor nerve treated by clipping and to review the previously published cases. Case Presentation A 42-year-old man suddenly presented with left oculomotor paresis. Three-dimensional digital subtraction angiography (3D DSA) demonstrated a left IC-PC aneurysm with a bul...

[Painful incomplete third-nerve palsy caused by an internal carotid-communicating posterior artery aneurysm].

CLINICAL CASE A 38-year-old woman presented acute-onset, painful incomplete third-nerve palsy caused by an internal carotid-posterior communicating artery (IC-PC) aneurysm. We describe the differential diagnosis with Tolosa-Hunt syndrome and the results after endovascular treatment. DISCUSSION The presence of pupil-sparing third-nerve palsy may not exclude the presence of an IC-PC aneurysm an...

Association between Internal Carotid Artery Morphometry and Posterior Communicating Artery Aneurysm

PURPOSE The goal of this study was to directly measure the association between the internal carotid artery (ICA) morphometry and the presence of ICA-posterior communicating artery (PCOM) aneurysm. MATERIALS AND METHODS The authors intraoperatively measured the length of the supraclinoid ICA because it is impossible to radiologically determine the exact location of the anterior clinoid process...

A Case of the Internal Carotid Artery–Posterior Communicating Artery Aneurysm Mimicking Tolosa–Hunt Syndrome

A 53-year-old woman experienced a right retrobulbar pain followed by ipsilateral extraocular palsies in all directions without dilated pupils or ptosis. Because a plain head computed tomography (CT) scan obtained on her initial visit showed no abnormal findings, such as subarachnoid hemorrhage or a giant cavernous aneurysm, her condition was provisionally diagnosed as Tolosa-Hunt syndrome and e...

A case of delayed contralateral oculomotor nerve palsy after microsurgical clipping of a posterior communicating artery aneurysm

Delayed postoperative oculomotor nerve palsy is a rare complication that occurs in the setting of microsurgical aneurysm clipping. While a number of theories have been postulated to explain the development of delayed postoperative oculomotor nerve palsies, the underlying pathophysiology of such complications still remain to be elucidated. In this report, we present a case of delayed postoperati...
